Windows: Blue Notes Windows and grids are long-standing obsessions of mine. Four pieces: Peace, Geography, Air and Flash in the Pan are standard, if not traditional, log cabins. The four windows are variations on a theme. Midnight is both architectural and dreamlike - revealing the looking in and looking out aspects of windows. It uses hand-dyed fabric, machine and hand stitching. Summer also uses hand-dyed fabric. Paintbox uses hand-dyed fabric as well as paint and block printing. Transformations are antique yukata fabrics with grids imposed on them. I continue to be fascinated by the hidden/revealed quality of stripes and patterning. |
